Born and bred in the great northwest. More often than not, I’d rather be outside, enjoying the majesty of what our mountains and sound have to offer. When I can’t be outdoors, I can be found clumsily picking at guitar strings or becoming increasingly frustrated by watching the local baseball squad's perennial quest for mediocrity.
Growing up as a gamer gave me early exposure to technology and would lead to my passion for all things digital. In my mind, the Super Nintendo still reigns supreme as the greatest console. I count the Simpsons and the movie Airplane! as equally foundational in my upbringing. These are perfectly cromulent touchstones of media.
As I advanced in education, I became more and more interested in human behavior, our relationship with the world around us, and the ways in which that could be affected. Later, I would learn that technology could play a role in that relationship, which led me to the field of user experience. A proud Husky, I attended the University of Washington, receiving degrees in psychology (BA) and, later, Human Centered Design and Engineering (MS).
I spent nearly seven years working within the gaming industry and wearing many hats, from developer support to design for internal tools. More recently, I have been employed in the field of biotech, doing end-to-end design for web applications that serve bio, pharma, and other research institutions. I consider learning to be a continual endeavor, and am always looking to improve and add new skills to my tool kit.
